The Verandah Resort and Spa will be reopening its doors to visitors and locals on October 1st, 2021. Officials from the Ministry of Tourism took the opportunity to witness the spate of improvements made to the property which will be in strict adherence to all government issued Covid-19 protocols
From an additional dining terrace to a new and improved coffee shop and secondary pool area; everything was done to either allow for extra space to accommodate social distancing or to add to the ambiance and comfort of the facility.
Rooms have been re-tiled, and bathrooms renovated for aesthetic appeal but most importantly for expediency.
Minister of Tourism and Investment the Hon. Charles Fernandez gave high marks to the property for the investment made in upgrades and urged other such properties to follow suit.
“I am very satisfied at the efforts made by Elite Island Resorts to adhere to the Governments’ Covid-19 mandate that ensures the safety of not just visitors but locals who work at these properties as well as ‘Staycationers’. What is even more enlightening is the drive to invest in regular product improvements so that the offering never gets unappealing”, noted Minister Fernandez.
According to Chief Strategy Officer of Elite Island Resorts Caribbean, Gerard Lee, the impending opening will see scores of vaccinated workers returning to the property and this augers well for the advancement of the local economy. Antigua and Barbuda has seen robust visitor arrivals over the past few months as well as a very active staycation market.
